The Canterbury Charm is an Old Norse runic charm found written in an Anglo Saxon manuscript, very similar to the healing charms on two runic amulets from Sigtuna and the Kvinneby Amulet. Despite being written in the late 11th Century, it invokes Thor.
“Gyrils sārþvara far þū nū. Fundinn er þū. Þōrr vīgi þik þursa drōttinn, Gyrils sārþvara. Viðr aðravari.” “Gyril wound-causer, you go now! You are found! May Thor strike you, lord of the trolls. Gyril wound-causer. Against blood-vessel pus.”
