The 64 Hexagrams are symbols of forces in the universe that combine an upper and lower trigram. The upper trigram is in the position of sky and the lower trigram is in the position of earth. There are 8 trigrams who symbolize sky, wind, lake or marsh, water, mountain, fire, thunder, and earth. If an upper trigram is of mountain, then there are 8 combinations that can have in terms of its lower trigram, thus there are 64 hexagrams. Below is a picture of the 8 trigrams. The trigrams are composed of 3 lines. A solid line is yang the positive force and a line with a chasm in it, creating two lines beside each other, is yin the negative force. Thus the trigrams combine yin and yang, and they grow upwards meaning the bottom line of a trigram is read first.
Then below is the 64 hexagrams. The numbers are how to find them in the i-Ching, the i-Ching is a book of hexagram lore that is important to study, and it is sometimes used for divination, however the hexagrams themselves can be contemplated in terms of being representative of physical forces through contemplation of the upper and lower trigrams. In Chinese cosmology there are three main components to the universe: sky, earth, and human or another creature linking the two. Thus there is the upper sky trigram, the lower earth trigram, and the transaction between the two that represents an event, situation, or force in physics and the hexagram itself is symbolic of a creature. The 64 hexagrams can be likened to 64 dragons for purposes of understanding, each hexagram symbolizes a dragon. A scholar can be likened to a caretaker of the hexagrams by attention and contemplation of them in the way a person might cares for a dog. Male and female perspectives on the hexagrams are important.
Hexagram 23 is mountain above earth. Hexagram 33 is sky over mountain. Contemplation of Hexagram 33 is to imagine what sort of physical force is represented by a mountain being above the sky. Physical force or energy has two relations, sound and motion, and sound is one with motion. For this reason each hexagram can be associated with a set of affirmations, a set of observations, a set of principles founded on physics and a set of motions associated with qigong exercises. Qigong exercises are generally simple calisthenics coordinating breath and body movement but there are complex forms as well. Hatha Yoga poses can be linked to hexagrams.
The Magen David, known as a Satkona to Hindus, is also called a Hexagram and as such it can represent Human, the linking of Sky and Earth. The Satkona can be a diagram to demonstrate the way the upper and lower trigrams of one of the 64 Hexagrams interact. The Yin Yang is an important component in hexagrams.

Yin and yang form the basis of the binary code (0 and 1) that has been a basis of computer programing. The phrase opposites are complimentary relate. In The Hong Kong Action Movie ‘Born Invincible’ the villain is revealed to have a trigram symbolizing fire on his uniform at a particular sequence in the film.

Each of the 64 Hexagrams has corresponding songs, and body motions being representative of forces. The Hexagrams can be employed as companions in the study of physics and obersvation of nature or mindfulness of the body, as well as qigong practice, hatha yoga, and gym culture. Bare contemplation of the trigram symbolism in the hexagram is the employment of 64 hexagrams for study of physics, as in the contemplation of: what sort of force is represented by wind above thunder? The i-Ching Lore of the Hexagrams can be secondary to the bare contemplation of their trigram components. It is important to respect the hexagrams as ancient constructs.
